Itinerary for 5D4N Maliau Basin Full-Loop Clockwise Day 1: KOTA KINABALU / MALIAU BASIN SECURITY GATE / SKY BRIDGE / NIGHT DRIVE Depart overland from Kota Kinabalu to Maliau Basin via Keningau (approx. 155 km: 5 hours). Arrival at Maliau Basin Security Gate / Shell Maliau Basin Reception and Information Building (SMRIB). Short Tour and Briefing At SMRIB (gallery). Proceed overland To Maliau Basin Study Centre (MBSC) (approx. 27 km: 1 hour). Arrival At MBSC. Register and check In. Proceed to Sky Bridge & visit Around Study Centre. Dinner. Video show (30 Minutes). Night Drive or Night Walk in search of nocturnal animals (Optional and/or Dependent on Weather). Rest and overnight at MBSC. 2D1N Mount Kinabalu Climb (EB-KK13)

Itinerary Day 1 Meet at hotel lobby and transfer to Kinabalu Park Headquarters (HQ), the journey will take approximately 2 hours, en-route passing by villages and a panoramic vista of the valleys of the Crocker Range. On arrival, register at the Kinabalu Park HQ and proceed to the Timpohon Gate and it's from here the ascent to Laban Rata resthouse begins. The trek will pass by different vegetation zones from Oak and Chestnut to mossy and eventually to alpine type of vegetations. Overnight at Laban Rata Resthouse OR similar. (Packed Lunch & Dinner) Day 2 Early morning ascent to the summit of Mount Kinabalu (4092.5m) above sea level. Upon reaching the summit ( Low's Peak ) an opportunity to take photographs on the highest point in South East Asia. In a clear weather, a spectacular sunrise awaits weary climbers. Retrace route back to Laban Rata resthouse for breakfast and onward descent to Timpohon gate where transport will take you to the Kinabalu Park HQ to collect your achievement certificate. 3D2N Danum Valley Borneo Rainforest Lodge (EB-LD02)

Itinerary Day 1 Meet on arrival at Lahad Datu Airport (recommended BKI-LDU flight: MH3010 / 0700), and proceed to the office for registration and briefing. Depart two and half hour drive on gravel road to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge in the heart of Danum Valley, aptly named the "Lost World". Check in on arrival with an introduction on the various facilities available at Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Lunch at the lodge. Slide presentation at the conference room after lunch. In the afternoon, proceed for an introduction to the forest through the "Nature Trail" and onwards to the "Canopy Walkway" (300m in length and 26m in height at the highest point) for a close-up observation of the rainforest. North Borneo Railway (EB-KK17)

Itinerary 0930hrs - Meet at hotel lobby and proceed to the Kota Kinabalu main train station. On arrival, briefing by the guide and board the historical colonial era "Steam Engine Train". As the train approaches the final destination, the steward will give a briefing to all passengers on the disembarkation process and the things the passengers can do in the town of Papar. This stopover will be a 30 minute stopover and passengers can visit the local market or just wander through the town. 1000hrs - Train will depart amidst the hissing of steam for the 66km journey to the town of Papar, journey will pass by small towns, paddy fields, mangrove jungle and beaches. Enroute the train will make a stop over at a Chinese Buddhist temple. Passengers can disembark for photo shoot. 1215hrs - Depart Papar town for the return journey to the city of Kota Kinabalu. On this return journey passengers will be served the "Tiffin - Styled Lunch " ( a blend of colonial and continental cuisine ). 1345hrs - On arrival at the Kota Kinabalu train station, passengers disembark and meet on arrival for transfer to hotel. Itinerary Meet at hotel lobby and proceed to Monsopiad Cultural Village located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Kota Kinabalu. On arrival, register at the reception counter, meet the local guide for the village and proceed to the restaurant for a welcome drink. After the welcome drink, follow the guide to visit the various traditional farmhouses. In the farmhouse are displays of various tools, baskets, musical instruments and other everyday tools, food that the local natives use. Within the Monsopiad Village is the "Gintutun do Mohoing", a stone monolith erected long ago, a silent witness to many legends of Monsopiad. Within it, is believed to dwell spirits from the past. Today, many people visit the stone for luck. The guide will explain the various houses, the materials used, the methods use to de husk the staple food "rice". Finally visit the "House of Skulls" where the 42 skulls of Monsopiad enemies are kept. Proceed to the multi purpose hall to witness the "Cultural Dances Performances ". Brief Description Kudat, a three-hour drive north of Kota Kinabalu, is famous for its rich cultural heritage and blending of ethnic groups, especially the Rungus, the largest and the main ethnic group living in Kudat. The Rungus, a sub-tribe of the Kadazandusun, are the main ethnic group living in the Kudat region. They are renowned in Sabah as highly skilled artisans, who traditionally make colourful beaded necklaces from local plant seeds and clay, with motifs of ancient designs, usually signifying old fables and legends. They are also highly skilled at basketry and cloth weaving. The Bavaggazo longhouses also known as "Binatang", are unique attractions for visitors as they were planned and developed as a cultural centrepiece by the Rungus community at Kampong Bavaggazzo as a means to display and conserve their cultural heritage while engaging in an economically sustainable venture.
