Maliau Basin "The Lost World", Sabah

Maliau Basin or Maliau Basin Conservation Area is a region located at the South Central Part of Sabah, represents a geological catchments surrounding the Maliau River. Bounded by a formidable escarpment reaching over 1,675m asl, the almost circular Basin encompasses reaching over 390 km2 of pristine forest, a virtually self-contained ecosystem, never permanently inhabited and with large areas still remaining to be explored and documented. Dubbed as Sabah's "Lost World", the incredible Maliau Basin rim is about 25 km in diameter, which is slightly bigger than the Island of Singapore. For tourists, the highlight of the adventure is to trek through the rainforest to reach the Camel Trophy Camp and later, to reach the Ginseng Camp, all the way to the majestic 7-tier Maliau Falls.
