Final Prediction

THIRD PLACE PLAYOFF:  Loser S1 Vs Loser S2

england.gif (87 bytes) England Vs italy.gif (131 bytes) Italy

  • I'm not sure why I should predict the outcome of this irrelevant match, but just for fun...
  • I think England won't be interested at all to play their hearts out to get 3rd placing. They are only interested in becoming champion.
  • Italy should win easily unless England surprise us all by putting up a gallant effort.

Prediction: Italy (3rd Place);  England (4th Place)

FINAL:  Winner S1vs Winner S2

  • Brazil vs Portugal must be a dream final for football purist and fanatics because both teams play superd football.
  • Although Brazil in recent years, have adopted a playing style that is more European than Samba, the number of talented players in the team that have an extraordinary ability to 're-dance' the Samba magic cannot be overlooked.
  • Portugal also possess their own unique brand of 'Portugese Samba' but the team lacks the key players depth that Brazil have.
  • In recent years, Portugal had indirectly became a one-man team. Luis Figo is for Portugal what Maradona was for Argentina back in 1986. He can win the world cup for his team but if he is injured or lost form half way through the tournament, Portugal is highly unlikely to get this far.
  • Ronaldo is still a key player despite his insipid form. In his last few matches, he can look like a mere spectator in one match and played like Pele plus Maradona in another. He only needs to produce one or two of the later and he will either score or inspire Brazi to win.
  • Brazil also look better in defence than Portugal and that could be a deciding factor.
  • History is also against Portugal as no European team has yet to win a world cup outside European soil.

Final Prediction:

BRAZIL (2002 Champion)

Portugal (2nd Place)
