Philippine military pinpoints location of
kidnapped American
MANILA, Sept 21 (AFP) -
Philippine troops have found the location of American hostage Jeffrey Schilling and his
Muslim rebel kidnappers and are closing in on them, presidential spokesman Ricardo Puno
said Thursday.
"The military had hinted
they had identified the location" of Schilling and his Abu Sayyaf abductors and
"he is in relatively good condition," Puno told a news conference.
"There are hopeful and
promising signs in the very, very near future," he said, apparently referring to a
possible rescue.
Schilling is among 17 hostages
held by the Abu Sayyaf gunmen, being pursued by the military in an assault launched last
Saturday.
