US denies role in ongoing military assault on Abu lair

MANILA, (ABS-CBN) - A news wire report says the United States has denied involvement in an ongoing military assault off the Abu Sayyaf lair in Jolo, Sulu this Saturday.

US Defense Department spokesman Ken Bacon was quoted by Reuters today as saying "We are not participating in this in anyway."

Bacon, travelling with Defense Secretary William Cohen on a trip to Manila, said the US did not try to intervene in the decision of Malacañang to attack the jungle lair.
