MALAYSIAN ENVOY ARRIVES IN ZAMBOANGA TO FETCH FREED CAPTIVE

ZAMBOANGA CITY, (ABS-CBN) – Malaysian ambassador to the Philippines MH Arshad arrived in the city Saturday morning to fetch freed Malaysian captive Abdul Jawah Bin Hadji Salawad.

Abdul Jawah, one of nine Malaysians held hostage by the Abu Sayaff, was turned over to Ambassador Arshad in a simple ceremony held at the Garden Orchid Hotel, here.

A policeman in Sempurna, Malaysia, Abdul Jawah is the second Malaysian hostage freed by the bandit group.

Chief government negotiator Robert Aventajado, Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan and former Libyan Ambassador Rajab Azzarouq also witnessed the turn-over ceremonies.

Ambassador Arshad will immediately bring Abdul Jawah to Manila before he is flown home to Malaysia
