security is well and good

Kota Kinabalu:
The States secruity is very much under control, particularly with increased efforts
by the police and army in operations both at sea and on land.
Chief Minister
Datuk Osu Sukam said this Tuesday after being briefed by the relevant authorities at the
State Security Committeee meeting.
The police was
represented by Police Commissioner Datuk Mamat Talib and the army by Major General Datuk
Pahlawan Azumi.
"Security
is being tightened in waters with intensified patrols by the navy and marine police
assisted by the air force and police air wing unit," he said.
The authorities
also noted that when operations were stepped up in tows areas many of the suspects fled to
the rural areas.
"But this
is being countered with consolidated efforts by the authorities in the rural areas,"
he said.
Osu said other
agencies such as Rukun Tetangga and the formation of residential committees in housing
areas had further strengthened security in Sabah.
He said police
have been pursuing the two mysterious blasts in the State Capital recently but declined to
give details pending completion of investigation.
"We should
not believe in all the rumours that have been floating around. Let the authority do their
job and Im sure it will be solved sooner or later," he said.
Osu said it
might be related to some who wanted to express dissatisfaction over the demolition of
squatters or crackdown on fish bombing activities being taken against them.
"The
police have the lead but we will not come out with a statement yet," he said.
The Government
would ensure that places that have been "cleaned" would remain so and the
authorities have the capability to do so.
Meanwhile, Osu said the
committee expressed gratitude for the freedom of Sipadan hostage Zulkarnain Hashim and
hoped all the other hostages would be released very soon.
