with a land area of 5,765 square kilometres, has a population of approximately 325,000
people. It has a population growth rate of 2.8 percent per annum. According to
the government's census, most of Brunei's populace is located at the Brunei/Muara district
(66.0%), followed by Belait (20.2%), and Tutong (10.9%). By age group, about 33.0 percent
of the population are below 15 years of age, about 64.0 percent fall under the 15 to 64
years old category, while the rest are over 65 years of age. In terms of race
distribution, Brunei indigenous communities consist of about 73.0 percent of total
population, followed by the Chinese (15.0%), and others (12.0%). The largest
indigenous groups are the Malays, Kedayans, and Tutongs. |
